Jan Katuin
Photographer & Painter

Jan Katuin’s (1950) work moves between painting and photography.
Each image grows from moments of stillness and wonder, where light, colour and form meet in quiet dialogue. He does not seek depiction, but resonance
where reality dissolves into feeling, and silence becomes visible.
He has works in many international collections: The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland,Italy, Spain, Great Britain and the United States and Canada.
This photographic series explores the landscape as a record of time, transformation, and fragility. Dried earth, eroded surfaces, and receding water reveal traces that often remain hidden from view. The images portray a terrain continuously shaped by natural forces while bearing the marks of human impact on the environment.

Balancing between abstraction and documentation, the photographs invite close observation. Cracks, contours, and textures become visual reminders of the delicate relationship between water and land, presence and absence. The work reflects on our connection to the landscape and the gradual yet irreversible changes unfolding within it.
